Michael S. Tanner, M.D. is a graduate of Marshall University with a degree in biology and Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. After graduating from medical school, he trained at his first-choice ophthalmology residency program at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year.
Dr. Tanner joined Abell Eyes in October 2020, specializing in premium cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and refractive surgery. He also offers injections for multiple retinal diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and ischemic eye disease.
